Biography

Scarlata is a writer. Her work has made appearances in Conduit, Typo and Everyday Genius and is in recent issues of 1913, Fence and The Denver Quarterly. Scarlata’s book It Might Turn Out We Are Real is out from Horseless Press and available from Small Press Distribution.

She recently held a residency at New Pacific Studios in New Zealand, and has led writing workshops for students and teachers of all ages. Scarlata received her PhD from The University of Denver where she also helped start a Writers in the Schools program.

Scarlata taught at and holds an MFA from Brown University. She is Executive Editor at Lost Roads Publishers, and currently teaches in Hong Kong.
